ARE YOU READY TO HAVE THE PERFECT BROWS?

Here’s a few tips on how to prepare for your appointment before visiting the studio:

PRE APPOINTMENT

Please refrain from all activities that may cause irritation of the skin or thinning of the blood prior to your appointment:

  • Refrain from alcohol consumption 24 hours before receiving Microblading
  • Refrain from suntanning, microdermabrasion, dermaplanning, laser treatment, and chemical peels 7-10 days before receiving Microblading.
  • Refrain from all medications that cause thinning of the blood including but not limited to: Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen. Please consult your physician before stopping any medication.
  • Refrain from consuming coffee and energy drink the day of your appointment.
  • If you are to receive any waxing or hair removal in the treated area, please allow a minimum of 2-3 days between your appointments for the skin to heal.

You must be off any and all Retin-A or Retinol products for a minimum of 7 days prior to your appointment and 30 days post appointment. These products can cause premature and extreme color loss. If you decide to continue your Retin-A or Retinol use do not apply on the treated area and please keep in mind that Brow Artist is not responsible for the loss of color in your cosmetic tattoo.

If you are experiencing any blemishes, acne, cold sores, any other skin irritations, or have a mole in or around the area of procedure please contact Brow Artist immediately via e-mail for a consultation. It is up to the discretion of our artists to decide whether or not they have a workable surface. Failure to communicate any of these may result in a cancellation or rescheduling of your appointment. All deposits are nonrefundable.

If you receive Botox, please ensure you leave 2-3 weeks in between session to ensure it doesn’t effect the overall symmetry of your new cosmetic tattoo.

We refrain from working on individuals on Accutane and require our clients to be off the medication for a minimum of 1 year before receiving Microblading.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer or any extreme illnesses in the past, we require for you to have been in remission for a minimum of 1 year and have a signed note by a licensed physician in order to receive Microblading. The safety of our clients is our first priority.

APPOINTMENT DAY

If possible, please attend your Microblading appointment with a cleansed face. A workable surface is key to a successful session.

Please ensure you come to the appointment well hydrated and well fed. The process takes several hours and we want to ensure you’re in a state of comfort.

Sensitivity is heightened during menstrual cycles.

Due to COVID-19 no guests are permitted within the studio, please attend your appointment solo.

Note: Although we’ve seen excellent results achieved in a single session, it is best to come in with the mindset that multiple session are sometimes required to achieve optimal results. Touch ups give us an opportunity to see how your skin heals, review pigment retention, and make any necessary adjustments.

Before we begin…

You should know…

Permanent cosmetics and microblading procedures normally require two treatment sessions. For best results, clients will be required to return for a touch up procedure between four and eight weeks after the initial procedure.

Be prepared for the colour intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become lighter as the tissue heals. This process can take up to fourteen days and one month in total before the true colour shows.

Advice For All Permanent Cosmetic Procedures

  • Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, it is advised not to make social plans for the same day.
  • If you use products with AHA’s, fruity acids, Vitamin C, Retinol A, please advise immediately and stop using those products for at least one month prior to your treatment. I cannot guarantee your enhancement will retain pigment colour in the skin if you continue to use these products.
  • No skin peels for at least three months prior to treatment. No microdermabrasion for three weeks prior or post-treatment.
  • I recommend that if you have Botox or fillers that your treatment is five weeks prior or five weeks after the Botox and fillers.
  • Please wear your normal makeup on the day of the procedure if you have not had a consultation previously.
  • I advise against drinking caffeine in coffee, tea or fizzy drinks the day of your treatment as this can affect the pigment retention in the skin.

  • Do not take aspirin, Ibuprofen or Coumadin for 2 days before and 2 days after the procedure.
  • Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.
  • Do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment.
  • Do not tan in the sun, on sunbeds or with fake tan products for at least 2-3 weeks before and post treatments. I cannot work on your skin if it has been subjected to the sun or sunbeds.
  • Please leave exercise at least 5 hours before treatment. I recommend no exercise that causes perspiration and blood acceleration for a week as this can cause pigment blurring.
  • A patch test will be performed unless waived upon request.

Eyebrow Procedures

  • Stop using brow growth serums at least 3 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Do not wear eyelash extensions before a treatment. Removal is recommended at least 2 days prior to your treatment.
  • Stop using lash growth serums at least 3 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Do not wear contact lenses during or immediately following the procedure.
  • Remember to bring your glasses. You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as your eyes feel comfortable. (This is normally 24 hours after the procedure).
  • You may have some swelling, as a safety precaution, I recommend that you have someone available to drive you home.
  • Any eyelash tinting or eyelash perming should be carried out no sooner than 1 week before or two weeks after the procedure.
  • Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the procedure: Electrolysis no less than five days before the procedure.
  • Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for two weeks prior to the procedure.

Lip Liner/Colour

  • Permanent cosmetic procedures do not cause cold sores, however, if you carry the virus, it lays dormant in the body and can be stimulated by the procedure.
  • If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), I advise you to contact your doctor to obtain the proper prescription medication to prevent such outbreaks. Alternatively, obtain herpes medication, for example, Zovirax from your local chemist and use one week before and one week after your procedure. This can help minimise an outbreak.
  • Lip wax or bleaching treatments should not be undertaken for at least a two-week period preceding your permanent cosmetic procedure.
  • If you have dry lips I recommend a light exfoliation for two weeks leading up to the procedure with lip exfoliator or a baby soft toothbrush.
  • If you are a lip biter, I may not be able to perform the procedure if there is scar tissue or evidence of blood blisters or inconsistent lip pigment tone.
